About Chris Mitchell
Chris Mitchell, a North Carolina native and family man, met his now wife in Boone in 1994. After meeting her and telling her he had a four track recorder, he immediately went out and bought one. Needing to impress this woman, he submerged himself in the art of live sound and recording and ran with it. Chris is essentially a walking encyclopedia, a man of great insight and wisdom who is not afraid to think outside the box. He has become one of the most admired and well respected engineers in the business. His touring journeys began with North Carolina bluegrass power-house Acoustic Syndicate and he has worked with the likes of Tracy Chapman, Kitaro, Old Crow Medicine Show, G Love & Special Sauce and the Charlotte Bobcats. Being the Zen Master that he is, he was also able to endure a five year stint with Mickey Hart. Kevin Browning then poached his talents to become front house engineer for Umphrey’s McGee at the beginning of 2011. In his off time, in the house that he built, he enjoys recording and producing up-and-coming local and regional bands. He also works for a local production company and does shows throughout North Carolina and the east coast region.
