…about the recently renovated Clyde Theatre in Fort Wayne, Indiana before our debut on February 21st. We thought you might enjoy his response.
“From 1951 The Clyde Theatre opened as a 1,782 seat movie theatre until the End Of The Road when it closed its doors and remained a vacant piece of Uncommon history. In 2012, a local entrepreneur and Rocker, Rick Kinney purchased it for $500.00 at a tax sale. The roof was caving in, windows shattered and taken over by hundreds of pigeons.
With Nothing Too Fancy and another $300.00 of Dough in this Bro’s pocket, Rick set out on an Odyssey of opening up a mid-size general admission concert hall in Fort Wayne Indiana.
After tying up Loose Ends, 6 years of volunteer efforts, Upward community push to save the building, an exhaustive capital campaign with contributions from The City Of Fort Wayne, The State Of Indiana and Sweetwater Founder’s Chuck & Lisa Surack, in July of 2017, Rick emerged from the Red Tape with the millions of dollars of financing needed to renovate, operate and give the Clyde Theatre a Fresh Start with what has been dubbed “the best sounding venue I’ve ever been to dude”.
Since its opening in in May of 2018, The Clyde has hosted over 62 national concerts including George Clinton, The Flaming Lips, Greensky Bluegrass and Gov’t Mule.
What was once a Little Gift and the dream of a fellow Umphrey’s McGee fan named Rick, has now blossomed into the region’s premier concert hall with spacious room on The Floor to shake it all night long. In 2004 Rick also founded a band called Moser Woods who will be opening up for Umphrey’s McGee at the February 21st show.”
