ZONKEY: “Sweet Sunglasses”
We’re a mere two weeks away from the official release of ZONKEY! Thanks to everyone who has pre-ordered thus far, we sincerely appreciate your support. If you haven’t, lock it in now to ensure you get the goods in the most timely manner.
Today, we bring you “Sweet Sunglasses,” which is a mashup of “Sweet Dreams” (Eurythmics) + “Sunglasses at Night” (Corey Hart) + “Electric Feel” (MGMT). Naturally. Keyboard Wizard Joel Cummins muses, “Sweet Sunglasses mashes up two songs that have a lot more in common with each other sonically than many of the other contrasting songs from Zonkey. The many layers of synths & vocals could only be mid-80s smash hits, though the lyrical themes seem to push in opposite directions: one is a plead, the other a warning. The end result is a danceable, infectious singalong that doesn’t let up from start to finish.”
The cover for this single is another image courtesy of Sarah DeRemer. Make sure to check some of her other work, including the cover she made for “Electric Avenue To Hell.” This one was touched up by UM Designer In Chief Kyle Baker to make it a bit more apropos. He holds the title for best Ray Ban Photoshopping in the tri-state area.
Head over to Baeble to check out this week’s premiere of “Sweet Sunglasses.”
If you’ve been asleep for the last six weeks….
